Our Middle School Ministry at Trinity is a great place for 6th-8th grade students to come and be known. We know some of the pressures of being in middle school and how hard it can be sometimes. Our goal is for students to know that this is a safe place -- a place that they can be themselves and that is perfectly fine with us! Oh yeah, and since we are a Middle School Ministry we love to have FUN! While we have students for the three years of middle school, we want them to learn about and know Jesus, make new friends, meet adults who genuinely care about them, and have lots of fun.
Our time on Sunday mornings goes by fast, but we make the most of what we have. Each Sunday morning we meet during the second half of the 9:15 and 11:00 a.m. worship services. We typically start with a mixer, play a game, and end our time with a short lesson that is relevant to what is happening in the life of a middle school student.
Our "normal" youth group nights typically take place on Sunday evenings. When we meet, we have a few goals each week in our time together: we are going to make sure to laugh and have some fun, connect with each other and practice the art of face-to-face conversation, worship through song, and make room to learn about our Christian faith. We really make an effort to create an environment that is most suitable for middle school students. The best way to follow us is to check the calendar and make sure of the time and place, as we do move around.
Our students meet in groups called "huddles." Each huddle is split up between grade and gender. We have amazing volunteers that feel called to hang with middle school students and pour into their lives. In our huddle groups we talk about everyday life, school, extracurricular activities, and about our walks with Jesus. Please email email@example.com to get your student connected.
At Trinity, Confirmation is a very special 10-week course for 8th graders (and older, if they have not gone through the class) in which we look at the foundations of our Christian faith. We talk about things like the Bible, God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Church, faith and prayer. It's a great time for students to ask questions and share their thoughts as they explore the Christian faith at a more in-depth level.
A few members of the 2017 Confirmation class had this to say about the experience:
Each year we set aside a few weekends for retreats for our students. Each retreat will serve some specific purposes for our students, but really the primary purpose will always be to actually RETREAT. We will look to get away and set ourselves up to meet with God.
SummerQuest is our annual week-long summer camp experience for middle school and high school students. The vision of this camp is to provide a place for teenagers to experience Jesus, community, and be empowered to live out the mission that God has for them, all while having a lot of fun together! This is a "can't miss" week and we strongly encourage all students to join us! Check out the SummerQuest 2016 Videos and hear testimonies of highlights of SummerQuest 2016 from students who took part. The dates of SummerQuest 2017 are July 31 - Aug. 5.
