Our Middle School Ministry at Trinity is a great place for 6th-8th grade students to come and feel known, accepted and loved. Middle school is both an exciting and turbulent time as students begin to discover and shape their identity. We want to come alongside them, love them exactly the way they are and provide environments for them to experience the love of Jesus. Oh yeah, and since we are a Middle School Ministry we love to have FUN! Our events may or may not include things like shaving cream fights, every-man-for-himself dodgeball, and noodle hockey... you’ll have to come to find out!
Starting on Sept. 24, youth group has been moved to Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Greenwich High School (same place and times as the Trinity worship service)! We have a few goals each week in our time together: We are going to make sure to laugh and have some fun, connect with each other and practice the art of face-to-face conversation, worship through song, and make room to learn about our Christian faith through a short teaching that is relevant to what is happening in the life of a student. While the 9:15 a.m. youth service will be a bit more middle school friendly and the 11 a.m. youth service will cater more to high school, all students are welcome to come to either one.
We were created to experience life with other people, and that's why we have midweek gender/grade specific small groups called "huddles." We strongly encourage all of our middle school students to be a part of a huddle. Lead by caring adults, these are times where students can share honestly what is on their hearts, ask the tough questions and receive encouragement, all while growing deep and lasting friendships. Huddles include everything from prayer, Bible study, and sharing about life and faith to excursions, movies, grabbing a meal together, or whatever the huddle dreams up! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how your student can get plugged into a huddle.
At Trinity, Confirmation is a very special 10-week course for 8th graders (and older, if they have not gone through the class) in which we look at the foundations of our Christian faith. We talk about things like the Bible, God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Church, faith and prayer. It's a great time for students to ask questions and share their thoughts as they explore the Christian faith at a more in-depth level.
A few members of the 2017 Confirmation class had this to say about the experience:
