Ongoing Support

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a caring ministry in which people are trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, aging, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, miscarriage or infertility, or separation. Stephen Ministry is confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remains completely confidential.

What to Expect

A Stephen Minister (lay caregiver) is:

  • a person with a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need
  • a person with gifts for caregiving who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
  • a caring Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports and encourages
  • someone who will “be there” for his or her care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week

Here is a 2-minute video about one man’s experience of being a Stephen Minister.
